St Mark's Basilica

Walk two minutes to the Basilica. Standard tourist admission (€10.00) requires a mandatory online timed-entry reservation booked in advance — this is not a same-day walk-up ticket. Add the Pala d'Oro (combined ticket €20.00) if you want to see the gold altarpiece.

Tickets: Mandatory timed-entry reservation, booked online in advance — plan this before your trip, not on the day.

Duration: 20 - 30 min (Basilica visits are time-capped)

Travel: 2 min walk from the Doge's Palace

Afternoon (12:30 - 13:15)

St Mark's Campanile

Finish at the bell tower (€15.00) for panoramic views over the square and lagoon. This is a fully separate ticket and entrance from the Basilica — don't expect your Basilica ticket to work here.

Tickets: Not required, though can be booked ahead.

Duration: 30 - 45 min

Travel: 1 min walk — right next to the Basilica

Day 2: Grand Canal, Dorsoduro & Rialto

Start at this modern art museum (€17.00) — it's a private foundation, not part of the Musei Civici di Venezia network, so no city pass or museum pass covers it.

Ca' Rezzonico

Walk along the Grand Canal to Ca' Rezzonico (€15.00), the Museum of 18th-Century Venice — included in the Venezia Unica All Venice City Pass and the MUVE Museum Pass, but not in the San Marco tier.

Afternoon (14:00 - 16:00)

Rialto Bridge & Market

Take the vaporetto or walk toward the Rialto Bridge — free to see and cross, with the Rialto Market alongside for a lively afternoon stop. Consider an optional gondola ride from here (official tariff: €90 for up to 5 people, 30 minutes, daytime) or a commercial Grand Canal boat tour (from about €45/person) — these are two different products, not the same experience.

Tickets: Gondola/boat tours are best booked ahead in peak season, though not mandatory.

Duration: 1.5 - 2 h, more with a gondola/boat tour add-on

Travel: 15-20 min walk or a short vaporetto ride from Ca' Rezzonico

Day 3: Murano & Burano Islands

Take the ACTV vaporetto to Murano (covered by any standard ACTV ticket — see this day's tips for the ticket you'll need). Visit the Glass Museum (€15.00) and watch a glass-blowing demonstration at one of the island's furnaces.

Duration: 2 - 2.5 h including transfer

Travel: Approx. 30-45 min by vaporetto from central Venice

Afternoon (13:00 - 16:00)

Burano — Lace Museum & colorful houses

Continue by vaporetto to Burano (same ACTV ticket covers this leg) for its famously colorful houses and the Lace Museum (€7.00). Budget real transfer time between the islands — this is not a quick hop.

Tickets: Museum entry not required in advance.

Duration: 3 h including transfer and lunch

Travel: Approx. 30-40 min by vaporetto from Murano

• A standard ACTV 1-day ticket (€25.00) comfortably covers this whole island day and both islands — you don't need a special 'islands' ticket. A guided Murano+Burano excursion (from about €29-50/person) is a different, hosted product with a live guide and glass-blowing demonstration included — pick whichever fits your budget and preference for a guide.
• Don't try to add central Venice sightseeing on top of a full Murano+Burano day — the vaporetto transfer times alone take up a meaningful chunk of the day, and rushing back defeats the point of visiting the islands properly.
