Overview & Visitor Introduction
The Telefèric de Montjuïc is a scenic cable car climbing Montjuïc hill, sold as round-trip adult tickets at EUR 19.00 standard, or EUR 17.10 with the operator's own 10% online-booking discount. A round-trip child ticket (ages 4-12) is EUR 13.00, and children under 4 ride free. One-way tickets (EUR 12.00 adult, EUR 10.00 child) exist but are sold at the box office only — they are not available to book online.
No reservation is required: it's designed as a walk-up or online-purchase attraction, with no mandatory timed-entry slot.
Important: this cable car is a separately operated, separately paid tourist attraction — it is NOT part of Barcelona's TMB public transport network, and it is NOT included in standard Metro/bus tickets or the Hola BCN! travel card. Paying for city transport does not cover this ride.
It is also a completely different product from the Montjuïc Funicular, which IS integrated into the TMB fare network (a funicular railway connecting with the Metro at Paral·lel). Don't confuse the two: the Funicular is covered by ordinary transport tickets and travel cards, while the cable car (Telefèric) is not, and requires its own separate ticket regardless of what transport pass you're carrying.

The Telefèric de Montjuïc connects Parc de Montjuïc with Montjuïc Castle at the top of the hill, giving panoramic views over the port and the city as it climbs. It opened in 1970 and is operated independently of Barcelona's public transport authority TMB, unlike several other Montjuïc-area lifts.
Montjuïc hill has been central to the city for centuries, topped by the 17th-18th century Montjuïc Castle and repeatedly reshaped for major events, including the 1929 International Exposition and the 1992 Olympic Games — the cable car is a later addition built to move visitors up the hill.
