The Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) was the seat of Venice's government for centuries, and today its state rooms, courtyard, and the famous Bridge of Sighs are Venice's single most-visited historic interior.
There is no ticket that admits you to the Doge's Palace alone — every ticket is actually the combined 'St Mark's Square Museums' ticket, which also covers Museo Correr, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Marciana, whether or not you plan to visit those three as well.
History & Significance
The Palace has stood on this site since the 9th century in earlier forms, with the current Gothic structure largely dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, serving as the residence of the Doge (Venice's elected head of state) and the seat of the Republic's government and courts.
